The local and national (and indeed the International media) are usually full of small fillers stories, which are often described as being 'human interest' tales ...

Human Interest, Is Often Animal Interest

.... but in point of fact they are, more often than not 'animal interest' stories .... so as we at PC towers are inveterate invertebrate news 'clippers,' then we have amassed a fair number of these animal oddities clippings.

The Chesterfield Frogs

In May 2020, the small Derbyshire town of Chesterfield, England, found itself being invaded by large numbers of frogs (which is more than our pond did that year!). The invasion was described as being of biblical proportions, with the amphibians invading peoples homes via the sinks and drains.

Some residents even reported that the creatures were trying to enter their homes via the U-bends in their toilets, where they were found trying to jump out of the toilet bowls. Yorkshire Water, the towns supplier suggested that the frogs must have been breeding in the the towns underground water courses.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water, said: “It could be possible frogs have laid frog spawn in a sewer or in a river near to one of our outfalls. If you have had a frog appear, please get in touch with us directly so we can have a look in our sewers in the local area to see if there’s any more and if we can get them out and move them to somewhere a bit safer.”

Should Have Gone To Spec Savers

RSPCA officers called to deal with a lizard believed to be under a bed in Coventry in September 2017, discovered it was just a pinky striped stock. Meanwhile in August on the Thames, a walker reported that they had seen snakes on the tarpaulin of a motor boat moored in Marlow. The police investigated and found that they were rubber toy snakes.

A camel, a cow and a donkey were found wandering along a road in Kansas in late November 2019 ... the police rounded them up but had no clues as to where they came from. So they asked for help from the public to find the owners of the "three friends travelling together (towards a Northern star)".

Law enforcement later determined that they belonged to an employee of the Tanganyika Wildlife Park, and were named Sully the camel, Gus the donkey and Rufus the cow, and they became minor stars and were the celebrity guests during the first ever park holiday event named called Happy Hoof-i-days, is a first-ever for the park.

Cow Flinging

In April 2022, cow rustlers in Gurugram, India were being pursued in hot pursuit by local police. In an attempt to stop the police they started pushing cattle of a trailer to hinder the police.

At least two animals were injured but the police arrested five men for cattle rustling .... and as cows are sacred to Hindu's they will also be facing charges of slaughtering or transport of agricultural cattle for slaughter .... these carry a possible term of imprisonment which may extend to a term of 7 years, or with a fine which may extend to Rs. 50,000 or both, depending upon the state the offence happens in.
