| Jeffrey Epstein Still Impacting From The Grave |
..... in this case the Epstein affair.
This week a key House committee voted to subpoena Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein's long time assistant and confident, to testify before Congress in order to get her to tell all she knows about others who may have indulged in Mr Epstein's interest in sex with under age (the reported cases were dependent upon which state you were in), girls.
Earlier in the week, the US justice department also stated that it had a meeting with Maxwell to ask "What do you know?". Maxwell's legal team apparently told the BBC that they were in discussions with the US government and that she would "always testify truthfully" after she agreed to talk. The initial talks were described as as "very productive" by her lawyer. He confirmed that "there were a lot of questions and we went all day. She answered every one of them," he said. "She never did say I'm not going to answer, never declined." .... there may, or may not, be a few men having sleepless nights right now.
Now, there have always been suspicions that Ms Maxwell could name names and list a lot of rich, powerful and famous men involved in some sort of cabal or league of males, who shared Mr Epstein's tastes. But through out her many trials and appeals she has never once mentioned or suggested that there were others involved. You would think that as she was Epstein's procurer she would have known who the girls were intended for.
So from this fact, one might infer that her silence isn't because of some misguided loyalty to Epstein's memory, or the men he may have invited to his parties, but simply because there were no others involved, and that Epstein's vice was a secret one he preferred not to share with others, for fear of being uncovered by the authorities.
Now Ms Maxwell finds herself once again at the centre of the storm, and in position to cause a lot of damage to the upper echelons of the US system if she chose to do so .... she could simply list names if they really existed and bring down many, even if they were not actually involved in sexual activities, but just partied with Epstein socially. Or even just take a vengeance on the US system by simply making up names .... who would know? The whole system would shake, as men denied their involvement, but in this day and age, where Internet conspiracy theories flower like daisies in the spring, who would believe their cries of innocence?
Certainly not supporters of President Donald Trump and MAGA, who are thoroughly doused in the political conspiracy theories such as Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories; the Biden–Ukraine conspiracy theory; the Deep state and of course the Death of Jeffrey Epstein. These are the ones who are pressing the Trump administration to fully declassify Epstein-related files in recent months.
They have been enraged by the apparent reluctance of President Trump and his administration to fully do so, with him claiming that "radical left Democrats" were responsible for fabricating "hoaxes" about Epstein and then even blaming his own supporters for falling for what he said was a leftist scheme, saying that "some stupid Republicans, some foolish Republicans, have fallen into the net". However President Trump has himself recently been mentioned in regard to the Epstein case, in a manner that has caused him to start a legal action against the Wall Street Journal for what he says is slander.
But the MAGA supporter wing of the Trump voter base may still be ultimately be disappointed, even if the files are fully released with no redactions, and Ms Maxwell talks "truthfully" to the DoJ and House subcommittee, because there really may not be any list of names. Ms Maxwell may have never ratted out the names at her trials, because they simply never existed.
Its going to interesting to see how this messy scandal, that's blown up into a full bodied political affair and that threatens to go far beyond a sordid little affair about one mans sexual sins, plays out over the next few months. It could simply be a damp squib and blow over, or explode and blow open the upper echelons of US society and bring down the great and the good, as well as the not so good.

Maxwell sent to low security prison in Texas .... a nicer prison (amidst speculation of a Presidential pardon) LOL ... Kiss and not tell?

As The Donald would say "FAKE News. PHONEY story" .... thanks for the comment and link
DeleteIt's actually a minimum-security prison camp in Texas called Camp Bryan. For a 20 yr prisoner that's as easy as prison time as you can serve and normally for those doing just months or a year or so.
DeleteKinda suggests a possible pardon or commuting of the time she will serve.
It does kinda .... maybe for one name being omitted LOL. Thanks for the comment.
DeleteDespite President Trump's often assertion that this is fake news and a hoax by Democrats to divert from how great he's making America this story keeps rumbling on because MAGA supporters are convinced that there is a list of names.
ReplyDeleteThis is fuelled by Epstein's survivors saying that they are going to make a list and a female Republican stating that she will read it into the record in Congress.
The Donald really wants this to die down but it was him who fuelled it on the campaign by promising to print the list.
Those holding a tigers tale risk getting eaten by the tiger.
This story could blow up his presidency if not handled correctly, and so far Trump has no control of the narrative. This week alone has seen a further flurry of activity which Trump has not been able to direct or control. It might ultimately peter out over the autumn if no other revelations come to light but if Trump gets dragged in, even by loose connection he could lose control and be swept along in the political storm. Thanks for the comment ... this story has some legs it appears.
DeleteHis self-confessed "best pal" has been stricken down by the long Epstein shadow. I am of course referring to ex-ambassador to the USA, Peter Mandelson, being sacked. With his boss British PM Starmer having problems for every giving him the job in the first place.
ReplyDeleteYes, that was kind of unexpected as this friendship had apparently been public knowledge for some time before he was appointed ambassador to the USA. Thanks for the comment.
DeletePrince Andrew has now been dragged down again over this. Its ironic that it's only in the UK that anyone has paid the price and no US citizens even named in connection to Epstein apart from you know who.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Prince Andrew has been a tainted figure in the UK for over a decade, his final shame in losing his titles apart from Prince which comes with birth, is not really worth me wasting a blog post on. I was tempted to laugh that Sarah Ferguson also lost all her titles (duchess of York) but I'm not interested enough in this couple to give them more publicity (no matter how little) in a post.
