| His Disguise Didn't Fool His Victim |
.... many have been vicious, dumb or just plain bizarre.
But this is the strangest by a country mile. On 19th of November 2022, while using an ATM cash machine in Cranhill, Glasgow, Scotland, a 17 year old was jumped on by a man wearing a snood covering his face who put a knife to the boys throat and demanded "Give me it. Give me it now."
Now in these modern times this sadly is not an entirely unusual event, especially in a big city like Glasgow .... however the boy recognised the assailants voice and his eyes and said "are you serious? do you know who this is." The attacker replied: “I don’t give a f*** who it is.” The boy then pulled the robbers snood down, revealing his father and asked: "What are you doing?"
His 45 year old father replied "I'm sorry, I'm desperate," before running away. Nevertheless the police were called by the boys grandmother, after he fled and told her what had happened. His dad was later arrested by police at the family home. He initially tried to deny it was him, but then caved in and admitted the crime "I didn't know it was him at the cash machine. I done it. I will do the time for it."
He was duly taken to court, and in March 2023, his lawyer informed the judge that "His mother, brother and son are all extremely angry at him." Sheriff Andrew Cubie, who then sentenced the father to 26 months for robbery and knife possession, told the court: "These are an extraordinary set of events."
