In a scene that is the stuff of nightmares, especially if like me, you are mildly claustrophobic (in truth this picture gave me nightmares for a couple of nights!!) ....

| Matilda Campbell Found Herself In A Tricky Situation. |
... Matilda Campbell, a young Australian woman, found herself trapped upside down after slipping between two giant boulders.
She was on a trek in the outback with friends in New South Wales' Hunter Valley region in October 2024, when she dropped her phone into a gap between two boulders. Now, as we have discussed in an earlier post, losing a phone, especially for the female of the species, is not going to happen without resistance.
So, despite the risks, she tried to reach down into the three foot crevice and try and feel for her phone. Unfortunately, she then slid down head first between the same two boulders and became firmly wedged.
Now I freely admit that I would have gone into meltdown and panicked. She, however, was made of sterner stuff than I, and reportedly remained calm while first her friends, and then an hour later, the rescue services attempted to extricate her from the jam she was in.
It took a further 6 hours of winching, including moving a 1,100lb (500kg) rock out the way, and then manoeuvring her, before she could be freed. Remarkably, the rescued Ms Campbell was just left with minor scratches and bruises. She did not manage to retrieve her phone, but that seems a small price to pay compared with her life.
But she later wrote in a message on-line .... "Thank you to the team who saved me. You guys are literally life savers. Too bad about the phone tho." ... What is it about phones and women??
