| Many Animals Like Golf Balls |
..... is an Australian golf tournament which takes place at Birdsville.
Now that place name is there for a reason, the place has a lot of birds, to whit, Crows. Now that wouldn't be problem except that crows are known to steal eggs from other birds, and of course white golf balls look like eggs to Crows.
So perhaps its not so unexpected that the 2024 tournament was plagued with Crows stealing golf balls. With hordes of the intelligent fellows following players around and menacing to grab errant balls. What was surprising was that organisers seemed perplexed by the crows behaviour. Dune President Stephan Purcell said "the crows for some reason love golf balls" Duh?? "We don't know where they take them, but there's sure to be a lot of them somewhere."
I live near the coast and a few golf clubs so I can attest to the fact that gulls love golf balls as well (for the same reason as crows and foxes, who also hang a round golf clubs for similar reasons). I quite often find golf balls dropped in my garden (possibly, to try and break the 'eggs').
