An Office Hazard

We have all seen it at work .... that email that is sent to everyone in the organisation (usually its clicking 'Reply All' that does the trick), when it should have been solely to the original sender. Sometimes these email sends are embarrassing as personal comments, or even affairs are exposed, but mainly they are a pain in the butt for everyone else who receives them.

Sometimes this is in obvious error, and sometimes its down to basically stupid people, who don't care that they have clogged up the email server with a meaningless response or query.

Ruskies Being Naughty Boyz?

A "massively co-ordinated" attack on websites including Google, Facebook and Twitter was directed at one individual, it has been confirmed, according to this BBC report .... apparently it was an attack on a pro-Georgian blogger called Cyxymu, and all sites holding his accounts.

The attack brought down or downgraded the service on many of the sites, and showed how fragile many systems such as Twitter and Facebook are.

Suspicions are strong that this large scale attack was sanctioned by Russian security services, if only because the of the resources required. Other sites such as Live Journal, where Cyxymu has a blog, were also targeted in the attack on Thursday this week.

It's certainly no coincidence that this week was also the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Georgia and continued occupation of Georgian territory.
