In The Court of King Corbyn

One of the noticeable aspects of the Jeremy Corbyn leadership of the UK's Labour Party, has been the abrupt rise of Diane Abbott to a greater influence than she has ever held before after seemingly being on the political slide. I have touched briefly on her new role as 'Queen Bee' in the court of King Corbyn, but never explained the background to the affair.

The Court Of King Corbyn
The Court Of King Corbyn .... Contains Many Characters.

...... Long ago 'JC' and 'DA', apparently carved their initials on the bedpost of forbidden love ..... aah!

It all happened in the summer of '79, when the Labour Party was reeling after the electoral defeat that had ushered in Mrs Thatcher. But this cataclysmic event served merely as a backdrop to a burgeoning love affair.

Mr Corbyn and his first wife Jane Chapman had separated a few months earlier in the year, when there was a knock in Ms Chapman's front door. She opened it to find one Diane Abbott on her doormat. Not one to mince her words, the then Labour stalwart allegedly told Ms Chapman that she had to 'get out if town' i.e. leave London.

Professor Chapman said 'She told me because she wanted a clear run' with Jeremy, with whom she had already started an affair. Whether the good professor did as requested is not known to me, but probably not, but it indicates Ms Abbots mindset, that she thought she could order anyone out of town.

This story came from a Mail on Sunday newspaper interview given by Professor Chapman, very shortly after Mr Corbyn took the Labour leadership. Ms Abbott was apparently invited to comment but seemingly could not be reached.

Recently a number of newspapers also reported that a friend of JC, political journalist Rosa Prince, has stated in her new biography of the great man, 'Comrade Corbyn', that on one subsequent occasion at Corbyn's London bedsit in September 1979, he had asked some friends round to pick up leaflets while canvassing. “We all bowl along to his bedsit, follow Jeremy into the room; there on the mattress on the floor in the one room is Diane with the duvet up to her neck, saying:

‘What the F*ck’s going on?

We were quite shaken. It was the late ’70s, it was still a point of interest, a white man with a black woman, so he was slightly showing off.”

Obviously the affair fizzled out as these things do, but it cemented Corbyn's left wing street credentials, and the fact that she is now in his Shadow Cabinet, suggests that they remained close .... at least politically.

The Corbyn Clowns Are In Charge
The Clowns Are In Charge ....

My what fun we are going to have over the next few years ..... the circus is well and truly in town, and its being run by the clowns.
