UK Election 2024

I suppose I should make some comment on the UK election ....

Political Log Jam Broken

It appears that the Brexit political log jam, that has been British blocking politics ever since the 8th of June 2017 ....

Theresa May Gambled - And Lost In 2017
Theresa May Gambled - And Lost In 2017 ....

..... when the then Prime Minister, Theresa May, very unwisely gambled on a snap election to gain a larger majority than the 12 she had inherited from previous PM David Cameron.

All Quiet On The Western Front

I had an email asking if I was 'avoiding Brexit and UK politics', having had so much to say about it until the last 18 months?

Well the answer is 'Yes', I am avoiding it.

History And Events

History is often seen as a series of cyclical events, repeating themselves over and over .....

So it also appears to be for political parties.

No Denying The Obvious

Richard Wagner said that "the Jew" was "incapable of artistic expression", while Jeremy Corbyn said that a group of British Zionists had "no sense of English irony" despite a lifetime living in the country.

Richard Wagner Had Anti-Semitic Views

One was Hitler's favourite composer .... the other is the leader of the UK Labour Party. There is a terrible whiff of the same smell from those two comments.

Labours Zionist Woes

In a brave attempt to do his bit to try and dispel the idea that the British Labour Party is a anti-Semitic party, its been reported that Muslim Khalid Mahmood MP, had an affair with his Jewish parliamentary assistant Elaina Cohen, which started after he split up from his wife in 2003.

Doing Their Bit For Labour Jewish Relations ... Well For While

But things went dramatically wrong after their affair had ended, when she accused another Labour MP, Naz Shah, of being an ‘anti-Zionist’ in a Tweet in 2016. Mr Mahmood suspended Ms Cohen from her £31k pa job, and (ironically given Labours reported backlog of anti-Semitism cases), began an internal disciplinary process against her. This continued despite the fact that Naz Shah MP was now suspended for his anti-Semitic Facebook posts.

Amnesiac Histories

If you or I was to walk unguarded in either the Palestinian West bank, or in the Hamas run Gaza strip, we would almost certainly run the serious risk of being kidnapped (especially in Gaza), either as a terror hostage/execution, or for ransom/prisoner swap. Our crime? Being :

(a) A Westerner.
(b) A Non Muslim, or

(c) Stupid enough to believe the pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli nonsense that comes out of the mouths of idiots like Jeremy Corbyn.

Not Impressed

Tom Watson is a Labour MP and deputy leader of the party. He took £540,000 in election campaign contributions (which was used to help pay his office costs), from the multi-millionaire Max Moseley. The payments were, £40,000 in August 2015, £200,000 in June 2016 and a final £300,000 donation in February 2017 ....

Strange Connections Between Two Politicians And Eras
Strange Connections Between Two Politicians And Eras ....

Mr Moseley is the son of UK Fascist leader Sir Oswald Moseley, who led the Union of British Fascists, and later founded the far-right Union Movement. Mr Moseley states that he no longer supports such views. This political alliance was odd enough to attract much interest in the press, as that amount of money to just one MP is highly unusual.

Silly Sausages, Road Hogs and Other Shorts

Melania Trump has had a pork sausage created, and named in her honour in her native Slovakia .... nothing more to be said really.

A truck crashed, bursting into flames.outside Dallas on Thursday the 29th of July. Fortunately its cargo, consisting of nearly 200 pigs, took their chances and ran out onto the highway, and thus avoided becoming bacon. It took the highway maintenance workers several hours to round them all up .... they had to then spray them with a water hose to keep them cool until they could be persuaded to get on another transporter.

Road Hogs Cause May-Ham Across The Globe
Road Hogs Cause May-Ham Across The Globe .....

The Texas rush-hour was reduced to total chaos but hog lives were saved .... strangely I recall that something similar to this road hog activity, happened in Hampshire in England in June this year, when Traffic on the M27 motorway in Hampshire, was brought into to a standstill by two runaway pigs from a local farm, causing may-ham to the rush hour traffic.

Forever Clueless

Jeremy Corbyn is not a man I would vote for. He's basically a hard left politician, wedded to the policies I recall being espoused by Tony Benn (another man whose views were hard left), in the 1960's and 1970's.

Jeremy Corbyn Michael Foot and Tony Benn
Corbyn Lives In The 1970's and 1980's Where Life Was Simpler
..... Michael Foot and Tony Benn Were Left Wingers

They had a certain amount of traction then, as the western socialist tide reached its high point, but since then these ideas have ebbed and are now only followed in broken states such as Venezuela and other failed South and Latin American states. Take for instance his latest policy announcement of 'free' school meals for primary school children.

Political Death Fight

What a stramash in the Labour Party, as the vultures of the far left, struggle over the scraps on the carcass of a once big party. The loss of Scotland to the SNP and the Election to the Tories, then the loss of Labour voters in the EU referendum, has brought the party to the edge of death (again).

Vultures Are Feeding On Labours Corpse
Vultures Are Feeding On Labours Corpse ..

How many more times it can walk to the abyss, before finally tipping over into oblivion is hard to judge, but that time must be fast approaching …… 1997’s triumphalism, must seem a very long time ago now to the Labour Party members.

In The Court of King Corbyn

One of the noticeable aspects of the Jeremy Corbyn leadership of the UK's Labour Party, has been the abrupt rise of Diane Abbott to a greater influence than she has ever held before after seemingly being on the political slide. I have touched briefly on her new role as 'Queen Bee' in the court of King Corbyn, but never explained the background to the affair.

No 1980s Re-Runs In Labour Party

When 'Jezza' got to the top of the tree in the Labour Party it was, to say the least something of a surprise to everyone (not least the man himself). This was of course because had not a couple of MP's decided to help him reach the required number of electoral votes from the MP's wing "to widen the debate a bit" (they didn't expect or want him to win), he would never have been able to stand.

The Kiss Of The Spider Woman

Much earlier in the US Electoral cycle, in fact way back in 2012, I guessed that we were facing a Jeb Bush versus Hilary Clinton US Presidential race in 2016, and 4 years later everything seemed to be working in that that direction when they both entered their names into the lists .... a dynastic battle royal seemed to be in the offing, even with the odd setback.

Then along came Donald Trump ... who frankly I thought would be dead in the water once the caucuses started, when his outrageous statements would be laughed out of the race ...... but as we approach the Iowa and New Hampshire votes, guess who is 20 points in the lead on the Republican race? Yep One Donald Trump.

This week he was given a kiss by the spider woman herself .....

Labours Wets

No one can ever claim that the (far?) left would be shy about their triumph in reclaiming the Labour Party leadership again, after decades in the political wilderness.

Of course, they have apparently learnt little in the years since Michael Foot led the party into the wilderness. So rather than recalling the lessons of their own party history, and not repeating those mistakes, they seem hell bent on the idea that they are picking up the tattered red flag of socialism, found lying stricken on a battlefield, and waving it from the ramparts again (no doubt with the sound track of the "The Red Flag" in the background).

The Peoples Flag Is Deepest Red ....

JC Cometh ....Jeremy Corbyn

Well they have gone and done it again ..... the political activists of a political party have proved to me how out of touch they really are with the voting public.

Jeremy Corbyn At A Stop The War (Any War) Rally
JC Cometh .... No Not That 'JC' ... Jeremy Corbyn

This time it wasn't entirely unexpected, as the Labour Party membership voted overwhelmingly for the man who started as a 500-1 outsider .... Jeremy Corbyn. This just proves that at least 59% of the membership of the Labour Party are as self absorbed and out of touch with political reality as I have always suspected.

The Four Political Pygmies

First it was political colossus (well nearly), Tony Blair, then is it was clunker Brown, and then little Ed (instead of big Dave his brother), and now it seems it will be one of the pygmies.
