Hooray For Politics

Politics is usually a yawn for many people .... in democracies just as much as any system ...

Politics Means Little To Many People
Politics Means Little To Many People ....

..... the majority of of the population rarely change their opinions on who they support, and are actually 'conservative' with a small 'c' in their beliefs. However this can mean that they miss out on some fun and games ...

Arrivederci Roma

I suppose that I should spare a few words for the UK leaving the European Union (EU) on the 31st of January ...

Mr Farage's Moment Arrived .... And Now Its Gone.

It says a lot about this whole process, that I nearly forgot about it, and posted something else instead

Not Impressed

Tom Watson is a Labour MP and deputy leader of the party. He took £540,000 in election campaign contributions (which was used to help pay his office costs), from the multi-millionaire Max Moseley. The payments were, £40,000 in August 2015, £200,000 in June 2016 and a final £300,000 donation in February 2017 ....

Strange Connections Between Two Politicians And Eras
Strange Connections Between Two Politicians And Eras ....

Mr Moseley is the son of UK Fascist leader Sir Oswald Moseley, who led the Union of British Fascists, and later founded the far-right Union Movement. Mr Moseley states that he no longer supports such views. This political alliance was odd enough to attract much interest in the press, as that amount of money to just one MP is highly unusual.

Nil Desperandum Dave

David Cameron is a desperate man. He has to be! Because how else can you read his claim that Britain leaving the EU, would increase the chances of a war in the EU part of Europe, or even with that same part of Europe?

EU World War III
EU World War III

Now to say that the "Remain" campaign has been negative, is an understatement, it's been very very negative.

With virtually no positive reasons to stay in the EU being put forward, except as a reverse of a negative reason for staying. E.g "We will be worse off if we leave, because they might not trade with us" (the 5th biggest world economy) ... so by inference we will probably be better off if we remain in it. But as that can't be proved, we must infer it, while the negative message is the one promoted.

But even so this latest claim is almost unbelievable in its stupidity.

A Shot In The Dark

There are some faces that you see far too often .....

Chief Supt Kevin Mulligan - Heading Yet Another Murder Enquiry.
Chief Supt Kevin Mulligan - Heading Yet Another Murder Enquiry.

and this is one of them .... Yes its our old friend, Chief Supt Kevin Mulligan of that socialist voting paradise known as Salford. We last heard from him in June this year, when one of those not so 'rare' violent deaths that occurred so often in Salford was in the news.

The Cruelest Cut Of All

There are credible reports coming out today, that the number of defence cuts in the British Armed forces will actually be 25% higher than has previously been admitted ... a national newspaper has seen a memo suggesting that instead of the announced 12,500 cut in size, the figure will actually be 16,500.

The UK Has Four Civil Servants For Every Soldier
The UK Has Four Civil Servants For Every Soldier

And in a further cruel twist of the knife, many of these additional cuts will fall on those soldiers who have been wounded in action in Afghanistan or Iraq and been able to remain in the forces ..... it seems that what the German Army couldn't do in two World Wars, the Conservative Party is doing with a few bits of paper.

Cameron: "Fightback!"

After losing the streets to what the BBC still insists are "youths" (the first man convicted, was a 31 yr old primary school mentor, followed by a postman, a lifeguard, and a charity worker), the Prime Minister, in his latest 'Finest Hour' moment said that: "We needed a fight back and a fight back is underway. We have seen the worst of Britain, but I also believe we’ve seen some of the best of Britain: the million people who’ve signed up on Facebook to support the police, communities coming together in the cleanup operations."

Churchill would have been proud!
He apparently sees no irony in announcing a "fightback" against many of his own so called fellow 'citizens' of this dis - United Kingdom .... effectively treating this as yet another 'War'. Churchill said, in another conflict, " We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender" .... bit more of a ring to it one feels.

Is this really the same politician who once said that we should "Hug A Hoodie"?  .... so now, as well as being under pressure to stop  further police funding cuts,  he will also probably be under pressure to stop reducing the size of the Army, after all, you need an Army to 'fightback' in a war ....

Another politician was once asked what made or broke Prime Ministerships, he said 'Events, my dear boy, events' .... this will be the making or breaking of Cameron as a P.M. ... fortunately 'Sergeant Showers' turned up yesterday, and the rioters stayed at home rather than get wet, so no riots last night  .... Victory!

The Wrong Arm Of The Law

A gang of four male intruders, with balaclavas and kitted for violence tried to break in to a house where two men (a father and son) and the boys girlfriend were residing. There was a fight, the two men fought off the intruders and in the process one of the burglars was killed (or rather died of a stab wound) after being stabbed .... as usual the police turned up well after the event despite getting a 999 call during the attempt to break in, and promptly arrested the householder his son and the girl.

The police chief, superintendent Kevin Mulligan even expressed his shock at the 'tragic' incident resulting in the death of the (scumbag) burglar. It truly makes you despair of Britain .... and all this after the current Prime Minister declared that he was going to reinforce the law to protect homeowners defending their property. "We will put beyond doubt that homeowners and small shopkeepers who use reasonable force to defend themselves or their properties will not be prosecuted." .... weasel words, when the police and courts continue to interpret 'reasonable force' as meaning any force. The police officer in this case for example said "Within the existing legal framework, you can use reasonable force to protect yourself - the emphasis on reasonable."

Can you imagine the terror of having four men in balaclava's trying to break in to your house? They are not cat burglars, or chancers (who would have run away when challenged), no this is four men who don't care that there are people in the house, and therefore most certainly intend to harm the occupants .... and all this useless arm of the law can say is that  "the emphasis" is "on reasonable" while they try to defend their lives and their property .... he even added that he "didn't believe that members of the public are at risk."

Well that must come as a reassurance to those who this policeman considers are 'members of the public', but for the rest of us, like people who live in houses being burgled for example, it must be a grave concern that this man is the police officer protecting them.

In fact he seems to have a stock response to every death on his patch of socialist paradise .... after a fatal shooting on his beat, he suggested that "One firearm incident, especially one this tragic, is one too many". Then there was that time that there was another fatal stabbing on his beat in Salford ... "This is a tragic incident and we understand how this can cause alarm to the community. However, I would like to reassure residents that there is no general threat to them as a result of what happened". Or then there was yet another death by stabbing, which he said was a "tragic incident". Mr Mulligan apparently stressed that such incidents were "rare" ..... well, obviously not that 'rare'.

The last word on this should perhaps go to the father of the dead burglar, Mr Garry Bennell ....who when asked about the incident, is reported as saying that: “Householders are entitled to protect their own properties from burglars. I would hope to have the guts to protect my property, though obviously I wouldn't want to kill anybody”.

Just Telling It As It Is ..... Cameron In "Hot Water"

Pakistan has got itself all upset because David Cameron was in India when he made a very pointed remake about elements in Pakistan supporting the Taliban in attacks on coalition troops in Afghanistan and civilians in the UK.

Mr Cameron made the comments to reporters after a speech in the southern Indian city of Bangalore on Wednesday. He said: "We should be very, very clear with Pakistan that we want to see a strong, stable and democratic Pakistan. We cannot tolerate in any sense the idea that this country is allowed to look both ways and is able, in any way, to promote the export of terror, whether to India or whether to Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world."

Of course the Taliban supporters in Pakistan instantly went ballistic, as though this accusation about Pakistan's ISI intelligence service funding and protecting the Taliban was in anyway 'new' news ..... in fact many of us blogger's have made this point, and in fact this blog raised the matter as recently as June the 13th .

But perhaps more importantly, Prime Minister Brown (a man who rarely said anything non PC in public .... well except once LOL), said that three-quarters of the most serious terror plots being investigated by UK authorities, have links to Pakistan.

So why was there no fuss then? Ah, well in the Islamic state of paranoia that drives the Pakistani military, there is no worse sin than that of playing the 'India card' in politics. They believe, contrary to all the evidence, that Hindu India, is fuelling Islamic terror attacks on it from Afghanistan, when in fact its there own Madrassas and the ISI (Inter Service Intelligence), that are the driving force for the Taliban in both Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere in the world.

The men who really know what games the ISI is up to are Lt-Gen Shuja Pasha (the current head of ISI) and his predecessor Lt. Gen. Nadeem Taj.
