The sad news that 49 people have been killed in a terrorist attack on two Mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, would almost have passed without me commenting (such is the frequency of these crimes in recent years) ...
.... but for the fact that it was apparently non-muslim terrorists, who attacked the Mosque worshippers.
So we can add this city to the sad roll call of cities that have endured these types of terrorist attack. I suppose the only additional comment I can add is that perhaps it was inevitable, that after a series of attacks on non-muslims in Europe and North America, some group would 'retaliate' and attack Muslims.
Sadly, we can probably now expect some sort of 'reprisals' against Christians in Muslim countries - India, Pakistan, Egypt and Nigeria spring to mind, but there are other countries where attacks could take place. We seem to be sliding slowly into a war of religious cultures .....
Update 18/03/2019: The Sultan of Turkey, President Erdogan has been firing up the Turks at his political rallies, by showing them video's of the Christchurch killings, and claiming that Europe is against them. While just 24 hours later, a Turk called Gokmen Tanis starts murdering Dutch people in Utrecht .... the motives are unclear, but if its a terrorist attack, then the blood is surely on Erdogan's hands.
