So I had to finally break cover .....
and go shopping after a weeks isolation ....
I only wanted milk and bread (I wanted to do a slightly bigger shop, if the stores had anything left later on the following week). I debated the possible queues in the afternoon at the large supermarkets and decided it was probably going to be better at the local corner convenience store where there would be unlikely to be crowds. This might be because of the rip off prices they charge, with milk at twice the price, and bread at fifty per cent more, but there was no one in the corner shop apart from two staff, and one old lady (who was dithering over the 3 types of bread left late on a Saturday afternoon). I unfortunately had to approach closer than 6 foot (2 meters) of the lady, as she showed no sign of making up her mind from the very limited choice.
The shameful hoarders who are stripping the shelves clean everyday, have apparently been nowhere near the local stores .... probably because it would cost them too much to buy the volumes they buy in the big supermarkets.
The behaviour of some of the public have been nothing short of shameful ... I am beginning to think we should have reintroduced rationing cards again, to control the anti-social behaviours being seen at the moment.
Whilst this crisis has brought out some of the best of our natures, its also exposed a very nasty underbelly of selfish bastards in the population .... of course the irony is that when the crisis is over, these oafs will be stuck with about a years supply of frozen goods, and several years supply of tinned foods, much of which they never normally buy and which they will have stored under a mountain of toilet rolls.
Still, otherwise it was a very quick and successful foray back into the world of mankind again ... expensive, yes, but virtually contact free apart from paying for the two items, where perforce I was within arms length of the cashier (who didn't seem particularly disturbed).
I even had a chance of a small conversation with two neighbours (at 6 foot distance of course), in which I joked there were snipers out looking for anyone talking at a distance closer than 6 feet ... one of suggested it would be armed drones. It was a remark that almost rang true such are the times we are living through ....

The hoarders are worldwide not just the UK. The saddest part is that there are no shortages in the first world so absolutely no need to do it.
