There are some anti-social people, who think it's OK to drop farts in a public place or amongst work colleagues (and we have discussed this subject before), but few claim that they have been secretly hypnotised in to repeatedly doing this dreadful deed.

But nurse Xandra Samson made this claim at an employment tribunal, where she was claiming unfair dismissal and disability discrimination ... unsurprisingly, she lost.She didn't help her case by also claiming that she was being possessed, and that her private parts were being attacked, and also that she was being ‘gaslighted through the use of low frequency sound waves’ ... she also described various other symptoms, including 'headaches, breathing difficulty (a feeling of getting choked), and gastrointestinal disturbance (borborygmus, spasms, flatulence)'.
Ms Samson had insisted
to her employing hospital, that she was not mentally ill or psychotic and refused to
see the hospital psychiatrist, with the Trust saying that finally ‘there was no other option’
than dismissal.
She told the tribunal judge that her paranormal
experiences were the fault of poor heating and ventilation at Ealing
Hospital in West London. She added that she had self diagnosed the
problem as 'ideomotor phenomenon' (which she said was where a person
moves unconsciously).

The judge told her that they had no idea what on earth 'ideomotor phenomenon' was .... and nor did anyone else. He ruled that the Trust did not discriminate against Miss Samson, nor unfairly dismiss her .... which they had done out of concerns about her mental health.
