The Future Is Smaller Penises

..... the number of males born with smaller penises has been increasing over the last 30 years or so.

The reason, according to Dr Shanna Swan in her book 'Count Down,' the problem is related to global pollution, in particular particles of pollutant particle, consisting of Phthalates, a chemical used to soften plastics. Unfortunately this chemical has been increasingly used, but also has a detrimental effect on human hormones (especially endocrine), of children in the womb. "Babies are now entering the world already contaminated with chemicals because of the substances they absorb in the womb."

Phthalates can be found in toys, food packaging, detergents, cosmetics, and many more products. The chemicals are easily absorbed into the human body, and she states that it is very likely the cause of a surge in the number of boys born with abnormally small genitals, as exposure to Phthalates in the womb can be correlated with "smaller penis volume"

The book itself also describes how modern pollution is leading to higher rates of erectile dysfunction, fertility decline, as well as the growing numbers of babies born with small penises. Dr Swan has dubbed the situation a "global existential crisis", and that "In some parts of the world, the average twenty-something today is less fertile than her grandmother was at 35."

One of her previous studies in 2017 examined the relation between sperm count and pollution. It looked at men's fertility over the last four decades, studying the results of previous studies involving almost 45,000 healthy men, Dr Swan and her team concluded that sperm counts among men in Western countries had dropped by 59 per cent between 1973 and 2011. 

She believes that if the human race carries on like this, we may well be facing extinction. She states that there are five possible criteria used to define whether or not a species is endangered ... even satisfying just one of the five can lead to species extinction. By her reckoning, she writes that "Only one needs to be met. The current state of affairs for humans meets at least three."
