Cupids Warriors

You sometimes hear stories about animals such as wild horses, or ducks frozen in mid flight across a lake, when a sudden freeze occurs ...... however you rarely see any evidence for these stories.

Moose Horns In The Ice
They Weren't Aware Off What They Had Found At First ....

But in Alaska a teacher in the remote village of Unalakleet, was out walking with a friend, when they came across a scene that proved there is some truth in these tales

Moose Death Match
Moose Death Match

They found two moose encased in ice .... this apparently as they had battled it out in the moose rutting season, and ignored the freezing water.  The most likely explanation is that one or both became wounded, but they had literally locked horns, and couldn't break free from each other.

Cupids warriors sometimes fall and are carried off on their shields.

  1. Mating rituals seem ridiculous and almost counter productive sometimes. However it is nature's way of ensuring that the most advantageous genes are passed on and is the reason that we are how we are.

    1. Well perhaps not in this case, where it seems to have just resulted in the end of gene pool for both these boys.

    2. That's evolution in action - those two who chose to dual in freezing water won't be passing on their genes if they haven't already.

  2. You might enjoy this story about frozen animals .... like buses, you wait ages for one, then two turn up at once.
