The All Terrain Armoured Transport, or AT-AT walker Seemed Futuristic in 1977 |
Do you recall the walking war machines in Star wars?
Well meet 'Elevate' from Hyundai ...
Elevate Concept Car - 3 Years In Development, 300 years In To The Future |
.... it can rise on its dexterous legs and walk over objects. The concept released at the CES technology fair 2019 in Las Vegas, has been in development for three years, and can walk at 3mph (5km/h) over rough terrain, roll over uneven ground, and even be able to climb a 5ft (1.5m) wall and jump a 5ft gap.
Mind you if it's anything like my Hyundai car, then the operator of the Elevate (or the AT-AT Walker if made by Hyundai), will not be able to wear boots because Hyundai have left a redundant bracket right over the brake pedal.
UK Size 10 (equivalent) or more shoe size, and your taking your life in your hands when you brake.
I saw that thing on a tech programme; leggy robots look like they're over cautiously creeping to they don't know where...
ReplyDeleteHyundai sounds like a small car, perhaps it wasn't built with size 10s in mind? My Peugeot 207 won't let me use the electrics for more than 30mins (often much less) without the engine running!? It's the equivalent of low flush toilets which people end up flushing twice instead - when the radio turns off
I have to start the engine to keep listening - bravo.
The journey to the future has to start with one (cautious) step .... and yes its an i10, but even so, having an unused metal bracket over the pedals is a poor design feature.
