Margaret Court holds the record for all-time Grand Slam singles titles.
Her 192 career singles titles between 1960 and 1977 is a women's record, and her 24 Grand Slam singles titles is an all-time record. 2020 is the 50th anniversary of when she won all four major titles in a calendar year.
When Australian Rod Laver celebrated 50 years since the second of his own Grand Slams in 2019, Tennis Australia celebrated his achievements. He was honoured at all four of the majors, receiving replica trophies and ovations.
But for Mrs Court, Tennis Australia says it plans merely to "recognise" - rather than "celebrate" - her 1970 sweep of the Slams at the 2020 Australian Open.
The reason? Mrs Court has stood out against the tide of LGBT propaganda which makes any negative opinion a 'hate crime' in the eyes of some .... She is now a minister in her own Pentecostal church after being ordained as a Pentecostal minister in 1991.
In 2017 she was reported as saying that women's tennis was "full of lesbians", while she has also spoken out against transgender athletes being allowed to compete in women's sports. As such she has been branded "homophobic", "ignorant" and "dangerous" for these opinions.
Martina Navratilova a former champion and open lesbian said "It's outrageous and so wrong. We don't need to change or rewrite history when it comes to anyone's accomplishments but we do not need to celebrate them. Margaret Court is hiding behind her Bible as many have done before her and will do after her. Let's not keep elevating it." ... in a BBC documentary, Navratilova called on sport to change its rules so trans athletes are not excluded and can compete against their new gender.
Billie Jean King, who like Navratilova is also lesbian, is among those who have called for the Margaret Court Arena to be renamed. She says if she were competing today she would not play at the stadium. Rennae Stubbs, who is also a former tennis champion and a lesbian has described Mrs Court's and her views as "ignorant and dangerous".
Interestingly, Wimbledon has said that "We will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of her win across our content plans as we did with Rod."
It seems to me that the LGBT brigade are now becoming a fascist type pressure group .... hounding and denigrating anyone who disagrees with them. With our TV adverts now having an apparently obligatory lesbian or homosexual couple kissing (alongside the now compulsory white woman with a black male partner), it appears that this approach has won.
The very small minority LGBT tail, is now well and truly wags the majority dog.
