| Polar Bear Before Piss Ban |
..... Residents can expect to get a good night sleep, undisturbed by noise.
But in July 2023, those residents living near the canal close to the Flehite Museum, found that peaceful nights sleep being disturbed regularly ..... in fact as regular as clockwork ..... but no, that's not a clue, it wasn't the towns clocks chiming on the hour.
No, it was a giant polar bear, pissing loudly into the canal, every 3 bloody minutes, with no relief, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!! When I say a giant polar bear, I of course mean a sculpture of a polar bear, which had been installed by the museum as a part of an exhibition. The artist, sculptor Florantijn Hofman, said that sculpture represented ".... the melting ice caps, the shrinking habitat of polar bears. This polar bear has chosen to show he is pissed off by peeing loudly into a canal."

However after residents complaints, he was no longer pissed off at night, after the museum agreed to turn him off at night ..... a relief for both bear and residents.
