What's Good For The Goose

Interesting that in a report by the BBC on the erosion of women's rights in Tunisia, they described the Islamist, Salafist hard-liners as wearing "the garb of the conservative Salafist Islamists - long beard, skull cap and a thobe" ....... oddly the very same BBC says nothing about the increasing number of women wearing the full face veil, in areas such as Bolton, Preston, Manchester, Blackburn, Bradford, Luton and London etc .... driven presumably by the also increasing number of men being seen wearing the 'long beard, skull cap, and a thobe' of the conservative Salafist Islamists, on the streets of those same cities.

Salafists In The UK - Good For Britain?

Why is one deemed as a very real threat to 'women's rights' in Tunisia, and the other as 'multiculturalism' and therefore great for the UK? It's this kind of PC driven schizophrenia, that drives the rest of us who are not infected with PC ideology, mad.

The BBC should represent the values of rationalism and the European enlightenment, and not 7th century backward misogynist attitudes, scraped over with a thin veneer of being 'cultural' to hide its intent.

Forcible Religious Conversion

A BBC story quoted a man called 'Sheikh Hassan Ghidan' (who is styled as a salafist scholar and preacher, who graduated from Cairo's influential Islamic university, al-Alzhar), as saying that he believes in changing society by teaching people at grass roots level, rather than through the violent jihad espoused by some other Salafists - but that he shares the same long term aims as them.

"The changes we seek are to apply the Islamic Sharia - the Islamic law to achieve social justice, and to establish an Islamic Caliphate, to liberate the occupied lands - lands occupied by non-Muslims, the lands which were originally Muslim."

He lists the following, as some of the lands that need to be re-taken 'Palestine, Iraq, Burma, Chechnya and Andalucia in Spain'.

This historical ignorance just makes me laugh, but doesn't surprise me .... the only land that can be said to be originally Muslim is the Saudi peninsular ... all the others were Christian or another religion, and were forcibly incorporated into an Arab Empire - there was only conversion by the sword after that - in fact its the only major religion that has gained its majority of followers by violent conquest, and its conversions almost entirely by violence (Sadly he Christians also did this in South America, but generally not elsewhere).

Islams Original Expansion and Expulsions

With the possible exception of the Sahel region of Africa and Malaya, Islam has almost never taken root via the intellectual winning of hearts and minds ever since. All the lands in this Salafist list, have either successfully repulsed an invasion, or thrown occupation out (Spain or Burma for example), and all have reasserted their native religions.  Others are an integral part of a non Muslim country such as Russia .... what's also interesting is that Iraq is now a Shia Muslim state now, and therefore to the Sunni crackpots, its also classed as non Muslim.

These Salafists are usually very violent men, with an agenda which our government should be addressing now with the Saudi's who continue to promote it ....... remember this is a major part of the Islam that the Saudi's export worldwide (including into the Balkans). One look at this map of the conquest years, shows that where the sword failed, Islam expansion stopped.

Islam is still only a force in those countries where Arab or Turkish armies suppressed the native religions .... maybe we should espouse a violent Christian creed, whose aim would be to 'liberate the occupied lands - lands occupied by non-Christians, the lands which were originally Christian' .... a list might include Bosnia, Turkey, Palestine, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt ... just a thought.

Ethnic Cleansing Of Christians

The Jewish Taliban are at it again .... we have remarked before on this blog about how similar the extremists of all religions are (and we include some Christians sects in this)  ...

Jewish Settlers Attack Christian Churches

..... but this is especially so for some of the Jewish and Islamic schools.

'Maria' Islamic TV

I can only believe that many Islamists are actually proud of being socially backward. How else can you explain the fact that the Egyptian Revolution has thrown up the Muslim Brotherhood as rulers, and as a sign of how regressive the revolution has been for women in that land ..... 'Maria' Islamic TV. This is a TV channel where women appear as monsters without faces ......

Maria Islamic TV ..... Egypt

... its hard to credit that they expect that to be taken seriously, and even attract women to become more interested in being hardcore Islamists.

Let's not forget that this is the same country where gangs of men actively chase down and sexually assault and rape women in the streets ..... where women protesters are violated by gangs or even by 'medics' inside police stations.

Muslim women are treated as little more than objects by Islamists, owned by, and available to anyone to be sexually assaulted if they are not 'protected' by men.  A 2008 report by the Egyptian Centre for Women's Rights said two-thirds of women in the country experienced serious sexual harassment on a daily basis, and yet the Islamists consider that they treat their women better in Islamic lands than in non Muslim countries .... it would be laughable if it wasn't so bloody terrifying.

Women in the 'West', you just don't realise the full horror of what is being attempted to be implemented in the mosques of Bradford/Preston/Leicester/Oldham/Luton etc etc ........

The Shape Of Things To Come?

With the turmoil in the Arab world apparently still flaring up, we may have to face a future where the Mullahs hold sway from Pakistan in central Asia to Morocco on the Atlantic .... a sort of 21st century version of the 8th century 'Caliphate'.

The "Caliphate"
The "Caliphate" covered much the same lands
where the Mullahs could hold sway

This has been the dream of many Islamists since it collapsed .... Bin Ladin and others are still striving for its return and even to expand it in to Europe and beyond. At the moment its fair to say that the 'revolutions' could still produce a more 'democratic' Islamic world, but then again, a prudent man would look at what normally erupts from these deserts and consider the possibility that it will actually be more repressive.

As examples of what I mean, lets take two cases, Libya and Jordan .... one is fighting for its very existence as one state, and had laboured under what was generally acknowledged to be, a very corrupt and repressive regime under Gaddafi, while the other is generally reckoned to be governed by a benign (for the Arab world) centralised monarchy under King Abdullah, but which has also seen 'democracy' demonstrations.

In Libya, there has been some talk of restoring the old ineffective Royal family which came from the al-Sanusi blood line. This was nearly eradicated by Gaddafi, but as it was also a religious order/sect in Islam it survived. As you may have guessed the direct descendants of King Idris went to 'Londonistan' in exile, but the current head of the religious movement is one Sheikh Mohammed Sanusi .... who is still in Libya.

Now some people (mainly Muslims) would describe the Sanusi (aka Senussi) movement as humanitarian and 'moderate,' movement, but a recent BBC interview suggests that there may be another Khomeini lying wait. He is quoted as starting the interview with a statement of his position:

"I'm angry with Christians and Jews, because the Christian and Jewish holy books have been changed many times over the centuries," he says. "The Koran has been *unaltered for 1,400 years. You should read the Koran, become a Muslim and earn your place in paradise."

He then goes on to expound his biggest concern about all the fighting in Libya, this is that:

'If the violence in the region continues, so many men will lose their lives that the ratio of women to men will increase to 50:1 and this will lead to outbreaks of lesbianism and same-sex marriages that will represent a real problem for Muslim society.'

... remember this 'moderate' man may well influence where Libya goes next.

Meanwhile in The Kingdom of Jordan, the demonstrations have not been so violent as elsewhere, but are a concern to the ruling family nonetheless, particularly as they have attracted the participation of the small but growing Salafist Jihadists in the country .... these are violent and extremist men, who ultimately want the 'Caliphate' restored, and will kill to achieve it.

This Salafist Is One Possible Future For Jordan
This Salafist is one possible future for Jordan

There are groups like this around the Arab and Muslim World .... they rule by terror, and by simply claiming that anyone who denounces them in a mosque isn't a Muslim, and should be killed. This is why no moderate Islam ever develops, it is killed at its inception by bearded extremists and a 'fatwah'.

The jury is out on what all this will mean for the Muslim and wider world, but prudence says we should plan for this worst case scenario and hope for the best case .....

* Note: This claim is not actually true ... while modern Muslims often assert that the current Koran is identical to that recited by Muhammad, some earlier Muslims were more flexible. 'Uthman, A'isha, and Ibn Ka'b (among others) all insisted that much of the Koran had been lost. Even in the 10th century, after standardisations of the text had been achieved, under the influence of Ibn Mujahid. he admitted that he knew of at least fourteen versions of the Koran, which were not merely differences in recitation; they were actual written variations.
