Historically We Have All Liked To See Poetic Justice ...... |
We have posted in the past on the case of Kashmiri Islamic militants being eaten by a bear in Kulgam district, south of Srinagar in Indian Kashmir.
So you can imagine our glee when it was reported by USA Today that in April this year, three IS (Daish) militants were killed in unusual circumstances that could be described as poetic justice. The three Jihadists were apparently setting up an ambush in Northern Iraq (about 50 miles - 80km - southwest of Kirkuk), where they hoped to kill local tribesmen who were not under their control.
The tribesmen were part of a large number of locals who had fled from the town of Hawija to the local mountains since IS took control of the town three years ago. IS had already summarily executed 25 people just three days earlier for trying to escape the town, so were prepared to take many more lives.
Boar Attacks Can Be Deadly ... ... As This Recreation Illustrates. |
However things went badly wrong when they disturbed a sounder of wild boar. The animals chose attack rather than flight (possibly because they had young to protect), and savagely attacked the terrorists. Sheik Anwar al-Assi, chief of the Ubaid tribe (and head of anti IS forces), reported that three terrorists were killed, and five more seriously injured ... the rest fled from the overwhelming attack.
Now as IS followers would firmly believe that boars were unclean and that touching them was 'haram' (forbidden to Muslims), then being bitten and trampled by them would be a particularly inglorious manner in which to be sent to paradise.
God if he exists, does indeed move in mysterious ways ..... poetic justice indeed.
After the delicious irony of poetic justice comes the satisfying redressing of the scales which results without having to stoop to their level.
ReplyDeleteIf these terrorists were consistent in their belief of supernatural claptrap, they should infer a divine disapproval of their cause in the wake of such a porking, not that they are, or will!
Can't disagree!
