Sausage Roll Abuse .... Or Offensive Advertising? |
Criticism from some Christians including a vicar, who rightly pointed out that “I think if they tried that with any other faith you can imagine the outcry there would be" .... we all know which 'other faith' he was referring to, and he's right, there would be violence and fatwas against Greggs, so this is actually a cheap shot against Christianity by the company. Greggs said: “We’re really sorry to have caused any offence this was never our intention.” ....
Of course this wasn't the only misuse of a Greggs sausage roll in the news.
30-year-old Daniel Proctor flashed a woman in Newcastle’s Grainger Street. The woman called the police and an officer traced him to the toilets of McDonalds, and arrested him on suspicion of indecent exposure. However it was soon apparent that he had in fact been holding a Greggs sausage roll near his groin and waving it at her.
Sausage Willy Humour Or Valid Cause For Criminal Charges? |
When arrested the defendant replied saying '“It was a Greggs sausage roll”. However the court took the view that while "It clearly was not his penis, it was a sausage roll, but he made it look like it was his penis, which was disorderly." .... this when he failed to turn up in court and was convicted in his absence. Magistrates gave him a six-month conditional discharge.
I should point out that other sausages are available for misuse ......
