The 'cigar shaped object' spotted
hurtling out of our solar system, and which prompted speculation that
it might be an alien craft leaving our space .... wasn't.
Nicknamed 'Oumuamua' it was just a huge rock, about a quarter of a mile long with, surprise, surprise, 'no evidence of artificial signals emanating from it'. .... 'bugger' say another group of UFO believers ... they just can't get a break since Roswell can they?
Alien Storm
Despite the fact that I personally don't believe that aliens are buzzing around our sky's, reports of strange and anomalous craft of events continue to appear regularly in the worlds press.
Now many of these are, like the urban myths that just recirculate over and over again, are nothing more than rehashes of various hoax reports, but occasionally an interesting one comes to light.
Last year (2017) in Thailand there a was a rain of strange metal pieces over a rubber plantation in Ubon Ratchathani. The pieces were first thought to be from a plane that had exploded or crashed, and the shower of metal had followed immediately after the sounds of a large explosion around 2am on the early morning of the 15th November.
However initial enquiries to the local flight control centre proved negative with no planes reported as missing or crashed ..... so something of a mystery and the flight centre promised to investigate. UFO believers have of course taken this to heart. Of course, it could simply have been an illegal drug running flight coming to harm ....... Just a thought.
WTF Was That?
Astronomers have lost 900 asteroids that are believed to be in near earth orbits. With 102 of these lost potential earth hitters believed to be over 140 meters in diameter, it would be quite a bump if one hit New York. Strangely most astronomers in the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Centre worry more, about the asteroids that we haven't spotted ever ....... Now that's just a thought as well.
