In 2017, Jason Mortimore from Exeter, England, was fined £666 (yes really, the fine of the beast), for throwing his Jehovah's Witness wife Rachael's Bible, and her other religious documents into a lit garden burner in November 2016 ... (he was lucky that wasn't another religions holy book).

For good measure he had also hit her earlier in the face, three times with a magazine (title not known ... but possibly The Watch Tower).
The reason for his ire, was that after 12 years of marriage and three
children, she had returned to being a Jehovah's Witness, and he had
assumed she was not going to celebrate the Christmas festivities, after
she had thrown out some Christmas brochures.
He told police that
he had feared that, as their relationship was under strain following her
reversion back to her religion, he did not want their children to be
influenced by her religion. He pleaded guilty to the charges of racially
aggravated assault and criminal damage.
Great Burgers ..... So Sue Me
Ksenia Ovchinnikova, a Russian woman and 'devout Russian Orthodox'
Christian launched a court case in Omsk against McDonald's, because she
claims that one of its adverts had been so tempting that she broke her
Lent fast in 2019 (the first time she had broken her Lent fast in 16 years), and had one of their meals.

Wicked Cheeseburger |
"After I saw the ad, I couldn't help myself, I bought a cheeseburger. I see a violation of consumer protection. I have asked the court to investigate."
This she claimed made her feel guilty. However I doubt that McDonald's will be too worried about this lawsuit, because as this isn't the US where millions would be at stake (or at least claimed), and as Ms Ovchinnikova has actually only asked for $10 in damages. Now the publicity worldwide that this claim has generated (You can almost see the advertising copy 'Our Cheeseburger is so wicked it can tempt you to sin'), must be worth millions. Her church is not exactly sympathetic either, with the Bishop of Moscow's office urging her to "go to confession instead of court."

Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
