When the UK passed the Sexual Offences Act 1967 (making same sex acts legal over the age of 21 .... now age 16), on the 21st of July 1967 (the USA had similar law changes from 1961 onwards, starting in Illinois) .....

Governor Bill Lee's Year Book |
..... it wasn't intended that this would lead to the nonsense about transgender 'identity rights' that the West is now embroiled in.
So for instance in the US state of Tennessee, the Republican governor has signed laws banning drag performances (amongst other sex acts) in front of children, and restricting medical treatment for 'transgender' teens. The ban is on all performances (regardless of the sex of the performers) "harmful to minors" by "go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators" in public places or venues where they could be viewed by children. So what's wrong with that .... wouldn't most of us agree that children shouldn't be exposed to some activities .... who wants 10 year olds seeing strip clubs etc?
As for the law restricting medical treatment for 'transgender' teens or youths, it prohibits doctors from providing hormones or surgical treatment for minors .... which I assume is under 18 years of age. Again, what's wrong with that, as these treatments are often irreversible, and should only be carried out on a fully developed person, capable of making the decisions that they will have to live with for the rest of their lives, and not by for example an emotionally and sexually immature 13 year old. The UK has also recently restricted the use of puberty-suppressing hormones, also known as puberty blockers, for children and young people under 18.
But despite the apparent saneness of these restrictions, the Governor has been attacked by LGBT extremists, who have even 'dragged' up and old picture of the now Tennessee governor, dressed as a woman (with girls dressed as men), in a 1977 student yearbook photo (apparently a tradition for the college, back when social media, and LGBT trolls weren't around). How pathetic to draw parallels between a student tradition in a yearbook in 1977, and the restrictions of sexualised drag shows being seen by children in 2023.

The Governor 1977 (Colourised for effect) |
Clearly, these male and female students back in 1977 were not trying to fool anyone
about their real sex or sexual identity, and were not promoting a lifestyle ....

Nashville Pride Drag Show |
.... whereas the picture of a drag show from Nashville Pride, clearly shows the performers dressed to really look like women. So hardly a like for like comparison?
The homosexual/lesbian population in the UK is under 4 per cent of the total population, and there is no indication that this proportion is different in any part of the world, especially in the West. However amongst this minority there are the 'ultras' of the LGBT movement. They are an even smaller minority (probably considerably less than 0.03 per cent of the general population), who want to legally declare themselves as being the opposite of their biological sex, and demanding that they are treated in this manner (with some support from politicians on the political left).
The so called 'Isla Bryson' and 'Karen White' affairs in the UK (where a convicted rapist declared themselves as 'transitioning' - without having had any medical intervention to remove male attributes - in order to try and get sent in to a female prison), have exposed how ill advised this 'LGBT ultra' position is.
What's particularly interesting about all this, is that such is the stultifying hand of political correctness, that any sort of real discussion on the subject is almost impossible without being labelled 'transphobic' (much like the race subject, where in the UK, another 4 per cent of the population have effectively censored all discussion, because of the fear by other races of being labelled as 'racist' .... the end outcome is the plague of woke advertising on TV these days).
However there are two aspects that are worthy of thought:
- The counter movement in the USA who want to push back against the LGBT sexualised activities amongst minors e.g. Drag performances at libraries, aimed at 'reading' to children (allegedly to educate children about being 'different'), and to prevent sexuality being discussed in school classes under the age of 11 .... this is backed by incoming President Trump who has signed an order to recognise only two genders, male and female (which is biologically correct).
- The exact sexual/psychological nature of 'trans' people.
On the first point: What is wrong with the sex act/identity (in all its forms), being banned from being thrust in front of young children under the teen years, who can't really understand it anyway, and without the consent of their parents? Why are the LGBT community so determined to push for this to be allowed? I don't know about you, but:
(b) My first school sex education classes were probably around the age of 13, when the hormones started kicking in, and so I don't recall being damaged by not being taught about 'differences' under that age ... even then we only discussed biological differences, not identity issues which were unknown.
On the second point, well that's a far more complex matter. There is a sub storyline that I haven't seen discussed anywhere publicly about the trans-population. This is the desire amongst some in the LGBT grouping to have sex with unwitting 'straights'. The case of Reynhard Sinaga, a homosexual who drugged and sodomised 'straight' males in Manchester England, to satisfy his extreme homosexual desires, suggests that the idea of being interested in 'straight' sex, whilst being in the guise of another sex, is not totally unknown within the LGBT community.
This is also supported by the hardly discussed subject of some lesbian women being pressured in to dating and having sex with those identifying as trans-women, but who are still anatomically men below the waist (and who react physically like men, and who are still attracted to women, thus defeating the object of women being lesbians) ... this was discussed in an article by the BBC (and was subject to immediate complaints by some groups).
After all, for those who want to legally change their physical/biological sex, what is the ultimate aim? Surely its to pass their life as a male or female (and contrary to their original biological sex), with all that that entails, including sexual relationships with people who are not necessarily aware of their former biological sexuality.
We have opened a hornets nest with the push to the gradual erosion of sexual boundaries, and now its stinging everyone, to the detriment of both women's hard fought for rights, and ultimately the LGBT groups themselves, as some groups or nations push back against the ridiculous number of sexual identities now covered in their ever expanding alphabet soup name ... latest incarnation is LGBTQIA+ ....this is now taught in NHS hospitals in the UK (eight or more sexes recognised by those who are medically trained and who should know better - utter madness!!).
I notice that the 'go-go dancers, exotic dancers, and strippers' didn't complain. It was just the 'male and female impersonators' who complained about not being able to perform in any public space where minors might see them.
ReplyDeleteI guess only one group has an agenda? Thanks for the comment.
