I occasionally have a play with a Photo Shop or Paint Shop Pro type of application .... sometimes the results are worth sharing (well in my modest opinion) ....
So here without further ado, here are my studies of William H Bonney, aka 'Billy The Kid'.

I like to see the past brought to life like this .... I know I may be alone in this, but there you are. These are all my takes from the original tin plate photograph that was sold last year, with the first B&W one a clean up of original plate, and then each succeeding picture is an enhancement on the one before .....

Update: The crotchet player has now been confirmed as being Mr Bonney as well and been valued at around $5m.
You've done a good job of enhancing the original, I especially like the colour version. I particularly enjoy new photos matched to old ones showing common buildings and trees; perhaps the tree in Billy's photo is still there?
ReplyDeleteLook very carefully .... tree and backdrop are false. There are some fingers holding the tree in place. It was most likely a travelling photographers tent.

DeleteFound this only today, nice job but... original picture was a ferrotype means that it worked like a slide and left goes right. The original pic was badly reproduced many-many times showing the Colt on the wrong side = left. Billy was right handed with guns. So you just have to do a vertical mirror effect to make things the "right" way lol.
ReplyDeleteI guess I should have checked first ... I was thrown by the old 1958 movie 'The Left Handed Gun', with Paul Newman which I watched as a kid.

Was Billy The Kid special needs? He has that missing chromosome look to him, or is it just me?
DeleteHe probably wasn't too bright, but I always think he had the feral look of those who were malnourished in their youth. However as a stone cold killer who killed eight men before he was shot and killed at the age of 21, he was probably a psychopath. Thanks for the comment.
