I think its fair to say that the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas attack on Israel and its response ro that attack has exposed a fault line in the Western populations .....
... which is that in general, a sizeable number of the immigrant Muslim populations who are here, loose;y supported the attack and violently opposed the Israeli response, if not necessarily supporting the atrocities Hamas committed against Israeli citizens. While, probably the majority of the non-Muslims (over age 35 at least) supported the right for Israel to respond, and its subsequent actions to defend itself.
This difference in outlook and mentality can often lead to misunderstandings and suspicions, that can possibly have some serious consequences .... so when the police in Valence, France, received reports that a restaurant in the town was displaying a lit up sign supporting Hamas, they immediately raided it.
The shop was actually a Tacos seller and was actually the Chamas Taco shop (a French franchise chain started in 2014), and not actually Muslim owned or run, and it turned out that the illuminated neon sign above the door had developed a fault, so that the C wasn't lighting up. However the French police still insisted that the shop owners turn the sign-off, and told them not to turn it back on again until the C was repaired and working again as it was causing offence .....
