Chronic insomnia is a problem of old age (which I for one, can attest to <deep sigh>) ....

... but affects people of all ages worldwide.
It can be caused by a number of other factors such as anxiety, or depression, poor sleeping conditions (too hot or cold or light), alcohol or drugs (which stop you reaching the deep sleep state).
How to tackle it is an issue for many. The usual advice to go to bed at the same time, read a book for an hour, don't watch TV or use a screen device etc etc doesn't always do the trick. Personally I just get up and watch TV, and either go without sleep, or go back to bed when my eyes start drooping .... its better than laying in bed angry and exhausted but unable to sleep.
However, it appears that a large number of people worldwide have hit upon a novel aid to get to sleep. They watch one particular video on YouTube.

| A Video Cure For Insomnia |
The two hour video is of a lecture or tutorial on how to use Microsoft Word, presented by Mr Randy Smith for employers Florida Marketing International in 1989.
Dubbed the "most boring video of all time," its been viewed by more than 3 million people and counting, who watch it to put them to sleep. Mr Smith, who was fortunately still with us at the time I wrote this post up, was completely unaware of the 30 year afterlife of his work creation, until a complete stranger texted him thanking him for helping with their insomnia.

Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.
Final decision on all comments is held by the blog author and is final.
