| Disappearing Fish From Tanks |
.... this is that up to 300,000 pet fish, simply disappear from their tanks every year in the UK.
That's a lot of fish. They simply vanish from their tanks without trace and many aquarium owners reported that more than one of their fish had gone. When asked what they thought had happened to them, some suspected their cats, but many had no cats (for obvious reasons if you are a serious fish owner). Others had thought the fish might have jumped, or got stuck in the filters, but few had ever found any bodies on the ground, or in the filters.A fish expert and breeder even commented that "sometimes fish vanish without explanation, every experienced fish owner knows that."
However there is a explanation that they might have missed .... mass cannibalism. If a fish is odd or ill, the others in the tank may attack and eat an individual in a mas attempt to drive it away (which it can't do in a tank), so they all take chunks out and leave no evidence ... perhaps only the odd bones.
Well its as good an explanation as teleporting fish.
