This is because our legislature and legal profession are so hog-tied by PC considerations, that they will not tighten up or even apply the laws, despite the fact that I would guess that around 85% of the population want them to do so.
 

Rotten Boroughs

A long time ago we had in the UK what were called 'rotten boroughs', which were parliamentary electoral seats that had a very small electorate, and could easily be bought by a prospective Member of Parliament in elections. These boroughs were eventually abolished and a reformed House of Parliament was elected, but we have developed in the 21st century a new version of these 'rotten boroughs', and that is the 'one party rule' borough councils.

These councils are a feature of the landscape in many areas of England, and also in Wales and Scotland (although in Scotland the rise of the SNP, has both lurched politics further to the left - if that's possible - and stirred up a brew that had long been becalmed for decades. And which the Scottish Labour Party totally misread when they adopted Scottish devolution as a vote winning policy). But where they particularly thrive is in the heady mix of a virtually one party dictatorships, combined with racial vote politics, that so many of the London councils now exhibit.

Welcome To Tower Hamlets

Take for example the London council of Tower Hamlets, something of a byword for political correctness driven incompetence, and now seemingly financial mismanagement. Recently they have been faced with having to make cutbacks of £100 million over the next three financial years, out of a £1.2 billion budget.

So what did they decide to do? Well one 'trick' was to consider axing the post of Chief Executive Officer, but in the meantime they needed someone to take the role of CEO on a temporary basis, while it was decided whether to phased it out .... but instead of taking someone from outside to cover the role for about 6 weeks, up steps one of their own, a man who was already on a reported salary of £119,000 pa in his role as 'corporate director for development and renewal' - what the hell that is in a council such as this, its hard to guess. It's in such a state that it even while it operates 'Foodbanks' for the poor, a councillor from another London council (Newham), has claimed that the Mayor of Tower Hamlets, is still "maintaining a personal limousine that collects his dry cleaning.” ... so much for cutbacks at the top.

Anyway, their (ex) corporate director for development and renewal, takes on the role for a total of 46 days, and is reported to have been paid £115,000, which in itself is obscene for a council making cuts, but then, when the decision was confirmed that the temporary role had ended, he threatened to sue for (racial?) discrimination because he hadn't been given the role on a full time basis - even though Labour councillors were amongst those who blocked his appointment. Rather than dismiss his claims, the council paid him another lump sum to drop the case, to take the total payout he received to a reported £256k for just 46 days work. Then to crown a miserable set of actions, they gave him back his pensionable role of 'corporate director for development and renewal'' .... nice work if you can get it.

In another council and another age, this sort of activity would likely have resulted in the council being suspended, maybe the police being called in, and probably the wipe out of the ruling party in new elections .... but this is 2013, London, and Tower Hamlets, where the normal rules of probity hardly apply ... so nothing has happened, and apart from a few raised eyebrows, this sort of dubious financial management is just accepted ..... By the way, this is not the first time the corporate director for development and renewal and Mayor have been in the news. In May 2012 their were allegations of electoral fraud in Tower Hamlets. In fact four separate news organisations – the newspapers, the Daily Telegraph, and the Evening Standard, and TV channels the BBC, and City AM – all reported to have uncovered evidence of postal vote harvesting, ghost voters, impersonation, or all of the above, in Tower Hamlets - both gentlemen featured in the reports.

What does this all lead too, apart from the obvious management issues and lack of accountability? Well Tower Hamlets is also becoming known for its production of 'Jihadists' such as "Talha," a Muslim from Tower Hamlets who was killed last November, while fighting for the Somali Islamist militant group al-Shabab .... before his death, he appeared in a recruitment video aimed at others in the borough. "All the Muslims in Britain, especially the people of Tower Hamlets, the citadel I was born in. I call upon you to come to jihad" was the video message .... no doubt others will go. Apparently one of the drivers for this, is the complete lack of development projects and jobs in Tower Hamlets, as one Muslim resident said "Growing up in Tower Hamlets, there wasn't much to do. No-one had any money. There were hardly any youth centres. Young men just hung around on the streets getting into mischief. It was like no-one cared about us." .... and the corporate director for development and renewal continues to get a handsome salary as 'corporate director for development and renewal'' ... hmm.

We need a root and branch reform of these new rotten boroughs, but while some political parties continue to derive some support from these areas, you'll see nothing happen soon ...... Welcome again to 'Broken Britain'.

Broken Britain ... Another Tale

Sharon Shoesmith, head of social services at  Haringey Council when "Baby P" was killed, and the woman who was paid the big money to have the buck stop on her desk, has just won a court appeal against getting sacked .... the reasons? The court thought the sacking "procedurally unfair", not morally or ethically, just some i's not dotted, or t's crossed.

As a consequence of this court decision, Ms Shoesmith described herself as "thrilled" .... not ashamed, just "thrilled" ... of course it means that the taxpayers will be left to pay her huge amounts of 'compensation' (She has claimed that she is entitled to her full salary and pension from Haringey up to the present day .... £133,000 pa x 3.5 = £465,500.00), for her being sacked while in charge of a system that allowed a child, that should have been protected by her employees, to be brutally and systematically beaten to death (he had over 50 injuries when he died in 2007).

Haringey are set to appeal against this, but when you take into the account of the lawyers, legal aid, and court time already taken up by her endless round of appeals to tribunals, and you can see that already, her case has probably cost more than the back 'salary and pension' that she wants .... so what is the point of employment laws when it always ends up in court until the claimant 'wins' (as they always seem to do in the end).

You can see why most employers simply 'pay up' even when they are faced with these often frivolous fishing' claims ... its totally wrong, and there are figures which suggest that some 'employees' make repeated claims from every employer they are sacked from. The employment laws, which were meant well, has been subverted by frequent challenges by lawyers and now work against society, and not for it.

This story tells you everything that's wrong with a society, where the laws are set by and controlled by the same lawyers who always make money in these cases.

New Politics, Same Broken Britain

We may have a coalition government with the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives forming what the government but two stories last week illustrated that Political Correctness still holds sway over the Law and other agents of power.

A Child Killer

Firstly, an illegal Iraqi Kurd immigrant, Aso Mohammed Ibrahim, who has fathered two children while here, killed a 12 yr old girl with his car (which he was driving illegally in any case), and two 'Senior Immigration' judges declared that it would contravene this mans "right to life and to "a family life" under the "Human Rights Act" to deport him .... the right to life of the little girl he killed was apparently of no consequence to the decision.

Her father said what most of us are thinking "What are the judges saying here? They are saying it doesn't matter what you do when you come here, who you kill, what laws you break, as long as you have children you can stay here? He's not a life saving surgeon or a Nobel Prze winner. he was a criminal before, a crimminal now, ands he will continue being a criminal".

And Secondly: There was the tale of a killer, Roger Kearney, who is suing the Post office for wrongful  dismissal because they sacked him for 'gross misconduct' six months before he was sentenced to "Life" or whatever passes for a life sentence in the UK, for the murder of his girlfriend . He says that he should have been paid while on bail and therefore is owed £8,225 .... his statement said that because he was “innocent until found guilty” and says his "human rights" were breached.

Killer

‘I feel that, if the Royal Mail could not trust me, they must have believed that the allegations against me were true and after 34 years of loyal service, a clear conduct record and no affect on my ability to perform my duties is a clear breach of my human rights.’ .... which ignores the fact that both the court and the jury also believed the allegations, which is why he is in Prison.

The "Human Rights Act" has been nothing but a millstone around our necks ever since the Blair government foisted it on the UK without the slightest hesitation. This liberal interpretation of the act, seems to be a peculiarly British thing, and now features in criminal stories on a regular basis.

Bulger Case Exposes Lack Of Justice

James Bulger - A young life cruelly taken away. 

Some years ago in a terrible crime, a small 2 yr old boy was led away to be murdered by two boys, who at age 10, were not that much older themselves. That murder of James Bulger, by Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, was considered a new low in standards in the UK .... sadly we have since discovered that the UK is still declining, and that other equally appalling crimes have happened since then.

At the time of the trial we all assumed that these two scumbags would never be released, but sure enough in 2001 they were released on a 'lifetime' licence .... a joke, because just as a 'Life Sentence' in prison terms means nothing of the sort, well the words of the then Home Secretary David Blunkett ring equally hollow ... what he said was that

"The Parole Board has informed me today (Friday) of their decision, subject to conditions, to direct the release on life licence of Robert Thompson and Jon Venables who were convicted in November 1993 of the murder of James Bulger.

At the time of the murder both were 10 years old and James Bulger was two. I would wish to make it clear at the outset that this means that Thompson and Venables will be on licence for the rest of their lives.

They will be subject to strict licence conditions and liable to immediate recall if there is any concern at any time about their risk."

As far as we know (and the authorities have remained tight lipped on the subject), Robert Thompson has not broken the terms of his licence, but Jon Venables has apparently breached his licence terms on several occasions.

• He was arrested for a drunken fight in 2008.
• Later that year Venables was found in possession of Cocaine and was cautioned.
• This year he was found to downloading and distributing hardcore Child Pornography and has been given a new 2 year sentence.  

Now both of these earlier crimes could get me imprisoned, but in liberal la la land, they are not considered bad enough by the parole board to get him back into prison for breaching his "strict licence conditions" .... it appears that only another murder would be enough to do that, hence the new separate sentence.

Diana Fulbrook from the Probation Chiefs Association defended the decision not to return Venables to prison for the alcohol and drug-related crimes. ...... "Here we had a young man, who'd held down a job for nine years, he was in settled accommodation, some of his presenting behaviour around drugs and alcohol are not uncommon amongst young people - all young people - who are living in society,"

 

So what, not 'all young people' are convicted child murderers, not 'all young people' are supposedly being supervised on a 'on licence for the rest of their lives' with "strict licence conditions" ... he should be on a life sentence again, and those in the probation service who share Ms Fulbrook's views, should have their positions reviewed with a view to dismissal.

 

We as a society have given Venables a second chance and he has failed it, he should now stay in prison until he dies of old age.   

 

Once again the citizens of the UK have been betrayed by the liberals who seem intent on destroying our society by imposing their values on to public policy .... expect more of the same under Kenneth Clarke, apparently another of the 'prison doesn't work' brigade. 

2018 Update: In 2018 Jon Venables has been jailed for three years and four months, for once again making indecent images of children, and one of having what the prosecutor described as a "disgusting and sickening document which falls far below any recognisable standard of morality" .... a paedophile manual. A recent psychiatric report found Venables was a "high risk of real harm to children" in the future .... so why is still going to be out on the streets again (at vast public expense). Life must mean life.

 
  

Lord Of The Flies

Two little tales of a broken Britain ..... firstly we now have schools where teachers are 'interviewed' by the pupils as a part of a 'student Voice' policy, to decide if they can work at the school. Teachers unions have alleged that the pupils have had teachers 'sing their favourite songs' as part of the interviews, as well as ask personal questions, and that some teachers have been refused because of their looks or policy on detentions.

In one case, a teacher allegedly failed to get a job after being labelled "Humpty Dumpty" by a pupil allowed to sit on his interview panel. As usual with this PC driven nonsense little or no account of human nature is taken into account when the policy is rammed down our throats by unelected zealots.

In the days before a state education it wasn't uncommon for teachers to be beaten by their students, such was the comparative lack of worth of teachers .... where are we heading when teacher appointments, promotions, and pay rises become a 'talent contest' system decided by student votes? In case you think my mentioning of students beating teachers was a bit over the top well, take a look at these stories from around the world.

And secondly, a 17-year-old boy was repeatedly hit with a metal bar and a chair leg before being stripped naked in an attack in Greater Manchester. Police said the teenager was the victim of a "cruel and vicious" assault on the Abraham Moss playing fields where he was was hit several times and knocked unconscious, before waking up naked. The teen gang had robbed him of just £11 ($18), the violence appears to have been just for 'fun'.

We are slowly losing our society to the teens, and its frightening prospect.

Broken Britain and Broken Haiti

I have chosen to not really comment on the two big stories of the last week or so:

1. The Haitian Earthquake and its aftermath, and
2. The home story of the Edlington torture case in Yorkshire

The reasons for this low amount of comment is that both stories will be thoroughly covered elsewhere and in far greater detail, so I will limit my comments to the following.

If there is a more benighted country in the western hemisphere than Haiti I am not aware of it. It was founded as the the first black-led Republic in the world, when it gained independence as part of a successful slave rebellion against Napoleons troops in 1804. But from that point onwards it has been one disaster after another and the country has proved to be virtually ungovernable except by extreme voodoo inspired dictators such as "Papa Doc".

Despite the successful rebellion it remained a Francophone independent (along with Canada) country while the rest of the French islands in the Caribbean are all overseas départements, or collectivités, of France. Maybe that's where its problems lie?

Whatever the reasons, its fair to say that after political 32 coups and countless foreign intrusions, Haiti remains the Wests only truly failed state. The utter shambles of the relief program is sadly true to form with everything else that happens in that country.

The domestic story of the two children who tortured two even smaller children in Yorkshire and are suspected of other similar offences, is so depressing that I was going to ignore it, but that would be unfair on the victims. We should all cry out in horror at what monsters are being bred on the council estates across New Labour's Britain.

Just a brief description of the Manson like 'family' background that produced these two animals .... the mother had multiple partners and children by them. She fed the kids cannabis to 'quieten them down', and they were allowed to watch horror movies from a young age. These boys would allegedly often be up all night and had even set fire to their own wardrobes in their bedrooms.

This family and its scum brood were known in the Edlington area (yet another life time Labour Party constituency) and to the authorities, but as usual in "Broken Britain", where I can be arrested or sued for a politically incorrect blog comment, nothing is done to control the blight families who ruin so many lives across the country.

Don Crabtree a former police officer, described the brothers as habitual troublemakers who were "a cancer" in the local community where they were involved in incidents of vandalism and violence against animals. "On one occasion we had it reported to us that at least one member of that family was seen to pick up ducklings in the park and kill them by throwing them against trees. That is about as sad as it gets."

"About as sad as it gets" sums up both stories.
