Not What It Seems ...

The Peoples Republic of Hackney, where incidentally Diane Abbott is the Shadow home secretary and MP for Hackney North, apparently showed once again that anti-Semitism is now a feature of the UK, when what appeared to be an anti-Semitic street sign was put up near a synagogue by persons unknown.

Ms Abbott immediately called it "disgusting" and "unacceptable", while Labour's MP for Tottenham David Lammy said it amounted to "despicable, nasty behaviour that has absolutely no place in our community."

And in fact many others joined in the condemnation ..... But in fact all turned out to be not what it seemed ....

Franck Allais .. Admitted All.

As soon as the story broke, Franck Allais, a freelance photographer came forward, and said that it was not anti-Semitic and in fact was part of an artistic project, which included other signs such as of a woman pulling a shopping trolley.

Sometimes it pays to wait before jumping to conclusions, or opening your mouth without your brain being engaged ....

  1. I don't see the perceived anti Semitism in the sign? As you say, LOOK before you leap!

    1. To be honest, neither did I. I thought it was just a man with a hat. Certainly I would never have thought it was a Jewish man. But the PC police find offence in everything these days and can spot things, even when they don't exist. Thanks for the comment Vroomfondel.

All comments are welcomed, or even just thanks if you enjoyed the post. But please make any comment relevant to the post it appears under. Off topic comments will be blocked or removed.

Moderation is on for older posts to stop spamming and comments that are off topic or inappropriate from being posted .... comments are reviewed within 48 hours. I don't block normal comments that are on topic and not inappropriate. Vexatious comments that may cause upset to other commentators, or that are attempting to espouse a particular wider political view, are reviewed before acceptance. But a certain amount of debate around a post topic is accepted, as long as it remains generally on topic and is not an attempt to become sounding board for some other cause.

Final decision on all comments is held by the blog author and is final.

Comments are always monitored for bad or abusive language, and or illegal statements i.e. overtly racist or sexist content. Spam is not tolerated and is removed.

Commentaires ne sont surveillés que pour le mauvais ou abusif langue ou déclarations illégales ie contenu ouvertement raciste ou sexiste. Spam ne est pas toléré et est éliminé.
