Follow The Yellow Brick Road

The ten most influential movies in the western world have been named by the University of Turin.

The Wizard of Oz - Most Influential Movie?

They compiled the list order by examining the 47,000 films listed on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb website), and then allocating a influence score to each movie by the number of times it was referenced by subsequent other movies.

The Empire Strikes Back

The Dark Side of the force has always been powerful, and its seems that even the Obi Kenobi's have been caught up by it. Admittedly in this case it was an adopted Kenobi, in the form of a Mr Mark Pitt, a 45 year old former British Telecom account manager, but is now a 'carer for the elderly', who currently describes himself as being a 'crime fighter' in his neighbourhood of Clacton in Essex.

The Force Wasn't With Him ...

Mr Pitt chose to change his name to 'Obi-Mark Kenobi' as he is a 'Jedi' .... all was going well until the aforementioned 'Dark Side' of the force entered his life.

Darth Disney

The news that the Disney Corporation have taken over the Star Wars franchise from George Lucas, has prompted many photo-shop wags to spoof up their pictorial representation of the series (I have linked to a few of them via this article here) ...

But given the accusations of O'l Walts reputation for right-wing views, through his association with the 'Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals', which was both an anti-Communist and an anti-Semitic organization, whose views chimed closely with those espoused by Herr Hitler and gang at the time ..... accusations that he never completely dispelled,  maybe it would be more realistic for something like this

To be the next unveiling of a Disney, 'Darth'.

Lego Wonderlands

I have to admit that despite never having owned any, I am a bit of a sucker for walking in a 'Lego Wonderland', so when I read that a moving replica of a jet engine has been made out of thousands of Lego bricks, I was naturally intrigued. It turns out that the half-size replica of the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine was intended to inspire  teens and kids to become engineers.

I on the other hand was more inspired by stories and creations like that of Gerry Burrows, 'Garrison of Moriah' a blend of Star Wars and Lord of the rings, it took 250,000 Lego pieces and  many months ....

Garrison Of Moriah
...... inspired by 'Helms Keep' in Lord Of The Rings, and the 'Battle Star' from Star Wars, this great creation is pure magic.

There are many more pictures on this link as well as links to other Lego Wonderlands.
