Mixed Messages For Mixed Times

Comic creation, Superman, was nothing if not an American Patriot ....

...... Indeed a 'Super Patriot'.

Super Trouper

Cinema chain Vue quizzed cinema goers in the UK, to find which was the most popular film Superhero .....

Now surprisingly it was not any character from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, nor Tarzan or even V. I might even have expected that Judge Dredd who was created for 2000 AD the British comic, be selected, even though Mega City is set in North America.

Batman In Bromley

Batman is a busy man these days, what with fighting Superman et al.

Bromley Was Never The Same After Batman Started Roosting ......

However who would have thought that he had time to appear in Bromley, South London. Apparently he has been there, and has been rather busy by all accounts. Of course being a true hero, he doesn't always wear the full superhero regalia, but sometimes acts undercover so to speak. In this case he has been dressing in a mask, but otherwise in 'civvies', as he rescued people across the borough.

No Brainiacs These Two

I won't even pretend that I was going to resist this story .... I have a long 'previous' on Superhero stories.

So here we are with the tale of not one, but two Superman's .... but Brainiacs they are not.

No Brainiacs these Supermen

Now as they had no car insurance (an offence in the UK), you might think that they would try to be inconspicuous but no, they decided to take the rear window out of their car, and replace it with a red cape as they cruised the M42 motorway. Needless to say, it wasn't long before the forces of steel, aka the West Midlands police force made them pull over and arrested them.

With social media being what it is, once the traffic police tweeted the picture above, with the commentary 'We don't work for Lex Luthor but we had to remove Superman's wheels from the road', it prompted comment from across the world.

One was from the Oklahoma Sheriffs Department in the US who tweeted back 'Nice work! Not even Superman has a chance against police Kryptonite'  .... this elicited a response from the UK traffic police who promised that 'We'll send Superman back to you'

Superman Flys To The Rescue

Anyone who visits this Blog knows that I never turn away from a Superhero story .... there are Ninjas, Darth Vaders, various Spidermen, Ninja Turtles, Self made super heroes, Batman and others ..... but I think I've only had the man of steel once, yes, Superman!

Apparently his alter ego in this instance wasn't mild the mannered Clark Kent, but the more proactive Luke Junior. He was wearing the distinctive blue and red caped outfit, as he took part in a charity fund-raising event outside a shop, when he happened to notice a shop lifter with his swag, running out of the store and being chased by staff.

He rushed across and apprehended the thief and made a citizen’s arrest.

The families in the street cheered his heroics, and while the man was arrested and taken away in handcuffs, the Superman theme music was played in the background over the charity event’s PA system.

"When the adrenaline finally stopped, then I realised I was still dressed as Superman and I've not lived it down since," Mr Junior said.

Clark Kent - Super Blogger

This week its reported that Clark Kent (Superman's alter ego), is giving up his once-promising career in journalism.

Apparently he will walk out in protest that hard news has given way to too many "soft" entertainment stories ....
